The festival of Dahi Handi is celebrated in the month of August/September every year. The day commemorates the birth of Lord Krishna who is the eight incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The festival involves making a human pyramid and breaking an earthen pot filled with curd tied at a convenient/difficult height. It is mostly popular in Maharashtra, Vrindavan, Mathura, Jaipur and other cities of India. Dahi Handi is part of the main festival Gokulashtami/Krishna Janmashtami and celebrates the birth of Krishna.
